The surface must be sound, clean, dry, and free of dust and grease. With wood frames, round off sharp edges so that you can apply a good coating.
For untreated steel
- Thoroughly remove any mill scale, grease, rust, and dust. Now apply two layers of lead-free Red Oxide, then one layer of Primer, and finish with Rust-Oleum Combicolor or Mathys Fassilux.
For treated metal in bad condition
- Remove all parts that adhere poorly or are loose with a stripper or by burning or scraping, and then treat as ‘untreated metal’. The above systems serve as a general description for most common surfaces. For special applications and/or extensive advice, feel free to contact our technical team.
Stir thoroughly before use. If necessary, thin the first layer with 5% white spirit. Apply two layers using a brush, roller, or spray-gun. Always apply an intermediate Primer before applying a finishing layer on metal.
