Johnstones Trade MIO Micaceous Iron Oxide is a high build, urethane modified alkyd based, micaceous iron oxide coating for the protection of structural steel against corrosion.
Johnstones MIO Micaceous Iron Oxide is ideal for the protection of steel that has been suitably primed, previously coated or fresh. Can be used as a build coat or as a finish in its own right. Johnstones MIO Micaceous Iron Oxide has excellent anti-corrosive properties, and water barrier. Resistant to harsh abrasion and UV.
All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material. If applied directly to steel, the steel must be wire brushed to remove any corrosion, Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Stir thoroughly before use. Suitable for application by brush or roller. If more than one can of a colour is to be used in the same area, intermix before use.
